Ceresole d'Alba

Ceresole d'Alba is a little village of two thousand habitants and it is the northern municipality in the Roero area. Today Ceresole is an important centre for livestock and agricultural productions, important also for a special typical product: the tench.

HISTORY

The first witnesses of human activity in this area dates back to the prehistory; while we haven’t any Roman artefact. 
Ceresole enter in the history in the 1041, when start the control by the Bishop of Asti started on this area. At the beginning of the XIII century the families “de Montaldo” and “de Anterixio” takes the power. After many years enter in Ceresole’s history the Roero family, more specifically from Filippo Roero will arise the Roero of Ceresole. 
From the XV century the village becomes the stage of French and Spanish wars. In the last years of the XVII century the last Roero heir, Francesco Bernardino sell the palace where he live and he died after few years.

WHAT TO SEE

The Castle. Residence of the Roero of Ceresole, it conserve some parts from the XVI century in the northern side while in the southern part the palace was rebuilt during the next century. This is the location for many meetings.

Madonna del Buontempo. Upright as a vote by Roero Percivalle during the XV century with romans shape, today it is isolated in the middle fields. It was characterised by paintings today preserve in the Municipality Palace.
